This policy describes the cookies and trackers used by the Meduz application, in accordance with the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and the recommendations of the CNIL (deliberation of September 17, 2020).
A tracker is a file stored on your device when you use an online service. It allows information to be stored or accessed on your device.
Important: Meduz is primarily a mobile application. It does not use traditional web cookies for advertising purposes. The trackers listed below relate to the mobile application's local storage (SharedPreferences on Android/iOS) as well as integrated third-party SDKs.
| Tracker | Platform | Purpose | Duration | Consent required |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Firebase session token | Web + Mobile | Maintaining the authentication session | Session | No (strictly necessary) |
| FCM token (push) | Mobile | Sending push notifications | Active account lifetime | Yes |
ad_interstitial_count | Mobile | Counting interstitial ad frequency | 1 day | Yes |
ad_last_reset_date | Mobile | Resetting the daily ad quota | 1 day | Yes |
| AdMob SDK (Google) | Mobile | Displaying and targeting ads (free plan only) | 13 months maximum | Yes (ATT on iOS, UMP on Android) |

| Meta Audience Network SDK | Mobile | Ads via AdMob mediation | 13 months maximum | Yes |
| App Tracking Transparency (ATT) | iOS only | Recording the ad tracking consent choice | Permanent (until reset) | Required by Apple |
The Firebase session token is strictly necessary for authentication to function. It cannot be refused without preventing access to the service. No consent is required for this tracker (Art. 5.3 of the ePrivacy Directive).
The Google AdMob SDK is used to display ads to free plan users. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers to personalize ads based on your profile and browsing behavior. AdMob uses mediation partners (Meta Audience Network, Pangle, Unity Ads, ironSource) that may also serve ads through the AdMob SDK. These partners are subject to the same consent rules.
On iOS: an App Tracking Transparency (ATT) dialog is presented when you first launch the application, in accordance with Apple's requirements. If you decline, the ads displayed will not be personalized.
On Android: consent is collected via the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK, in accordance with Google Play requirements.
The meduz.app website uses the following trackers, subject to your consent via the cookie banner:
| Tracker | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _gid) | Analytics | Audience measurement, understanding traffic and visitor behavior | 13 months |
PostHog (ph_…_posthog) | Analytics | Product audience measurement, conversion funnels and session recording (session replay) | 12 months |
Meta Pixel (_fbp, _fbc) | Marketing | Conversion tracking and optimization of Meta advertising campaigns (Facebook, Instagram) | 90 days |
TikTok Pixel (_ttp) | Marketing | Conversion tracking and optimization of TikTok advertising campaigns | 13 months |
| Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) | Analytics | Audience measurement and user behavior analysis in the app | 14 months |
These trackers are only loaded after your explicit consent. If you decline, no analytics or marketing cookie is set. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie management" link at the bottom of the page.
You can manage your advertising tracker preferences:
Refusing advertising trackers does not prevent you from using Meduz. Non-personalized ads will be displayed instead.
In accordance with Article 7.3 of the GDPR, you may withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as it was given, via your device or application settings. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
