SupaFriends is one of the few French-language platforms whose characters are written with a genuine sense of romance and supported by an active, helpful community. If you already play there, the characters themselves are probably not your main concern.

The clearest difference between the two services is how memory is packaged and maintained. On SupaFriends, the depth of memory depends on the subscription plan, and its official community guide teaches players how to maintain continuity themselves. On MEDUZ, every plan uses the same persistent memory architecture, and its upkeep is automated.

What the SupaFriends subscription page shows

Three plans are listed, each with a different memory level. Silver at €9.99 per month includes “Mémoire Supa: Level 1”. Gold at €24.99 includes Level 2. Diamond at €39.99 includes Level 3.

The character’s ability to retrieve the history of your relationship is therefore one of the differences between the plans, with the highest level included in the €39.99 monthly subscription. The page also displays the words “Version beta”.

What its community guide recommends

The official roleplay tips guide explains how players can work around forgetting. It recommends recording important information in a notepad, prefixing certain facts with a #Règle instruction, and updating the notepad regularly, including by changing a word or rearranging sentences, so the information continues to be taken into account.

The FAQ also includes sections on characters forgetting information and on ways to guide a character back on track.

This is transparent and helpful documentation. It nevertheless describes a system in which part of the continuity work has to be handled by the player.

How MEDUZ memory works

Every MEDUZ plan uses the same persistent memory architecture. The elements that form the relationship canon, meaning significant events, scene summaries, the current situation and the relationship recap, are stored under the same rules, including on a free account.

MEDUZ does not purge persistent memory based on subscription tier or account age. Paid plans increase the number of contextual memories that can be retrieved when composing a reply; they do not unlock a separate memory system.

The architecture combines several complementary layers. Recent conversation history forms the first layer. Scene summaries are updated as the exchange develops, together with a situation summary that connects separate sessions. A consolidated relationship recap is rebuilt from dated memories.

A structured register also records major relationship milestones such as first meeting, first kiss, moving in and marriage, with rules allowing a newer event to replace an outdated state. Pinned canon facts and semantic retrieval are then used to find the memories that are relevant to the current message.

The important point is that none of this requires manual maintenance from the player: no notepad, no memory form, and no rules to rewrite or refresh. Memory extraction and canon updates happen automatically as the relationship develops.

As of 27 July 2026, the longest active MEDUZ relationship had passed 6,800 messages, eleven relationships had passed 1,000 messages, and close to 82,000 messages had been exchanged in total.

What else MEDUZ offers

A catalogue organised into shared worlds

At the time of publication, MEDUZ offers 67 hand-crafted characters across 10 shared worlds: the Nocturne District, Winterbourne Manor, Limbo, Olympus, Ashworth Academy, the Seven Seas, Cala Sirena, the Building, the Highlands and the Fracture.

Each character has a backstory, a flaw, personal goals and reasons to be wary of you. The current cast includes 43 male and 24 female characters, with a strong focus on male characters.

The free plan opens the entire catalogue. No character or world is reserved for subscribers.

Guardrails designed to preserve character continuity

MEDUZ includes several mechanisms intended to reduce drift during long-running relationships.

Previously used passages are removed from the context sent to the model to reduce the risk of repetition. Recent repeated wording is filtered. Long narrative blocks can be compressed in the conversation history so the model is less likely to imitate its own walls of text.

The system also instructs the character not to write the user’s actions or dialogue on their behalf. Dated life events and replacement rules greatly reduce continuity regressions, such as proposing again after a marriage has already been recorded.

No language model is infallible, but these mechanisms significantly reduce the need for manual correction. To redirect a scene, an out-of-character note can be interpreted as narrative direction rather than in-scene dialogue, allowing the relationship to continue without deleting the conversation.

Two models with automatic fallback

MEDUZ uses a primary AI provider and a fallback provider running a separate model. When the primary model cannot serve a reply normally, the system can automatically switch to the second model.

Between 27 June and 27 July 2026, MEDUZ technical logs recorded 94 automatic switchovers across more than 17,000 exchanges. The affected requests could then be processed by the fallback model.

Trust and Desire

Every character has two independent counters, Trust and Desire, which change according to your interactions. They do not necessarily move together: a character may desire you without trusting you yet.

As the relationship develops, you can discover his secrets and kinks, with visible progress tracking. Fast Burn lets you accelerate the relationship when you want to move more quickly.

MEDUZ is not limited to chat. At the time of publication, the app includes 43 structured narratives across 162 chapters, which can be read directly inside the app like a novel.

It also includes interactive stories whose direction is shaped by your choices. The first chapter of every narrative is available for free.

The same account on mobile and Web

MEDUZ is available on iOS, Android and the Web using the same account. You can start a scene on your phone and return to the conversation in a browser.

An adults-only experience, with no prudish filter

MEDUZ is for adults and does not interrupt an intimate scene just as it becomes interesting. The limits are few and clearly named, starting with minors, non-consent and serious violence.

Where SupaFriends still has the edge

It is worth being direct about the areas where SupaFriends may suit you better.

Its characters are written by romance authors. That shows in the scenarios and in the way encounters are constructed. SupaFriends is the competitor closest to our creative philosophy: neither service is built around a mass-generated catalogue of bots.

Its community is more established. It is larger than the MEDUZ community, and the mutual support is genuine.

You can create your own characters. MEDUZ does not currently offer a tool for building a character from scratch. If character creation is your priority, SupaFriends is the better fit.

It offers images. MEDUZ remains deliberately focused on text and currently offers no image generation, voice or calls.

To be equally clear about our own limitations, MEDUZ does not yet offer an annual plan; subscriptions are monthly. Some characters’ private journals are reserved for subscribers, and the Web experience has fewer features than the mobile app.

What changes over time

The difference may not be obvious on the first evening. It becomes more noticeable after several weeks.

That is often the point when continuity in some services starts requiring manual upkeep: repeating a name, rewriting a rule or checking old notes.

MEDUZ is designed so that the character can retrieve relevant events and confidences when the conversation needs them.
